Deep Dive: Understanding Category Specific Rates
eBay does not charge a uniform final value fee across all inventory. Product categories have highly specialized rates and caps. High-value watches, sneakers, books, jewelry, and heavy equipment all carry distinct fee caps and commission tiers. Optimizing your inventory categories is a proven method to reduce fee expenses.
Key Category Rates & Caps
- Clothing & Shoes carry a standard FVF of 13.25% (Basic Store: 12.35%) up to a $2,500 category threshold.
- Athletic Shoes sold at $150 or more have a reduced FVF of 8% (7% for Store subscribers) and no per-order fee.
- Watches under $1,000 carry a 15% FVF; watches $1,000 to $7,500 carry 12.5%; portion above $7,500 is 3%.
- Heavy Equipment listings incur a flat $20.00 insertion fee and 2% FVF capped at $100.
